SqueeSAR™ provides precise measurements of ground displacement over producing oil and gas reservoirs.

Oil and gas production can cause wide area surface deformation. SqueeSAR™ identifies a high density of ground measurement points to monitor the dynamic behavior of reservoirs under production.

Deformation Monitoring
Surface subsidence can be used to monitor reservoir depletion over time. As displacement is measured over the entire reservoir, patterns of ground displacement can also highlight reservoir connectivity, thereby aiding reservoir development and production planning.

Reservoir Characterization
Ground deformation maps highlight areas of rapid displacement, correlating well with known fault structures at the reservoir layer. Surface deformation measurements can also be used as input into geomechanical models to estimate reservoir volume, pressure and permeability changes over time.

Deformation maps provide constraints on the location of the reservoir boundary. Regular data acquisitions show the evolution of preferential fluid flow paths within the reservoir.

Optimization and Compliance
Oil field production rates can be optimized by identifying areas exhibiting surface response to hydrocarbon extraction. Concentrating production to areas that exhibit ground movement can reduce the risk of dry wells.

Regular measurement of surface deformation rates can be used to ensure that extraction activities adhere to environmental regulations and standards. Subsidence maps also provide data for legal disputes concerning reservoir boundary extents.
