SqueeSAR™ is used to monitor the stability of dam structures and the surrounding areas.

SqueeSAR™ identifies deformation occurring on dam structures, supporting buttresses, surrounding slopes and downstream areas. Deformation maps can be used as input to risk models, important in identifying dangers to areas downstream.

Structural Stability
SqueeSAR™ can detect displacements on dams to millimeter accuracy, identifying movement that could indicate structural weaknesses. Deformation data allows engineers to determine if dam movement is within acceptable design limits or if remedial action should be taken.

SqueeSAR™ can also be used to identify movement on slopes and buttresses supporting dam structures to detect displacements that could threaten structural integrity of the dam.

Reservoir and Surrounding Areas
SqueeSAR™ can identify and characterize landslides, unstable slopes and active fault structures in supporting embankments. Given the high density of ground measurement points detected, the reservoir water level can be estimated by monitoring the water / reservoir boundary.

The stability of containing slopes and embankments can also be accurately measured, highlighting weaknesses that could lead to reservoir breaches.

Site Planning
By utilizing an extensive archive of radar imagery, historic deformation data can contribute to the identification of stable sites for dam and reservoir development.
